Spaghetti Feed
Last term X58 put on an all you can eat spaghetti feed to raise money for the center for medically fragile children at providence children's hospital. I took the entire event on myself and poured my heart and soul into the entire thing. The night of I was incredibly nervous, making sure there was enough food and everyone was enjoying the Christmas music and finding a place to sit. We made a few announcements and gave away some fun prizes and right as I sit down to eat Jacob, who was helping me MC the event got on the mic and gave a prepared speech. He started talking about selflessness and giving, he mentioned kindness and heart. He was talking about me. At first I was embarrassed, and couldn't stop shaking my head at him in disbelief. As I choked down the spaghetti that was in my mouth, I stood up and turned towards everyone else. They were giving me a standing ovation, and the praise reigned down over me like rain. I have never felt such satisfaction in my entire life to know that friends and strangers alike joined for a common cause, a charity, would appreciate one man's efforts.
The "News"
Well, I'm not one for watching the news but I did find some sports news that really excited me. The Cleveland Cavaliers made a HUGE trade and while reading the story on Yahoo Sports I was continually amazed at what happened. First off superstar center Ben Wallace, BIG BEN, was traded! What the hell?! C'mon Chicago give him a chance... But the good news is that he gets traded to the Cavs! LeBron James and Big Ben! That sounds freakin' awesome right? RIGHT. I have to say watching James massacre other teams is like watching New England playing Miami. The feeling that something amazing could take place and you have no idea when it could occur is absolutely riveting.

"Lovemarks."
upon reading the chapters in our text I would have to say that Chapter four, "All you need is Love" was probably my favorite. Yes, the Beatles inspired name and Rock and Roll references caught my attention but the philosophy behind the idea is intriguing. The way it talks about comrodery and goal setting. I really liked the "Six truths about Love" I found them to be... obvious but when put this way almost zen, and i like that. They reminded me of buddha's noble truths. My favorite section in the entire chapter was the two pages of quotes, you had Forrest Gump and Homer Simpson, Walt Disney and Voltaire. This one actually sounds like me, "I'm in favor of love as long as it doesn't happen when The Simpsons are on TV." (anita-6) The entire chapter is about focusing on what really matters to your consumer and giving it to them the best you can. You provide the public with what they love, and in return they will love you.

"Island"
All alone in the middle of the ocean, waves crashing wind howling. The sky is blue, laced with clouds, how did I get here? In the middle of the ocean, with nothing but a few wind torn trees and moss covered rocks. I am an island; a large rock really, piercing up through the ocean's clear blue plain. I stand alone, sturdy, solid, and somber. My brother, a larger, more menacing island is away in the distance. He makes me look like a hermit crab next to the mighty grey whale which swims in these very waters. Just across from both of us is land, a much larger and most impressive cousin to us. Land spans many miles, sometimes thousands. It has valleys and plains, mountains and gorges. Land has been dominated by strange, silly creatures called humans. I have only met a human once, he came out on his little boat and tied it to a rock on my north side. He wandered around, sat for a while, looked at the sun and left. He was very small and akward, an unimpressive species. I have been here for years, boats whirling around me humans coming and going. I will stay here always, sturdy, solid, and somber.
